HI, I’M MAIRA!
I have always been fascinated by storytelling and human behavior. My curiosity for this intersection has led me to major in Radio/Television/Film with minors in Psychology and Critical Theory, at Northwestern University.
With my multicultural background as a Peruvian-Chilean living in the U.S., I bring a critical and inquisitive perspective to every project, considering how it interacts with and contributes to the broader cultural landscape. My experiences span film development and production, content creation, PR, and marketing, allowing me to develop a well-rounded understanding of creative storytelling and effective communication.
This past summer, I honed my PR skills as an intern at Murphy O’Brien Public Relations in New York City. There, I gained hands-on experience researching target audiences using Muck Rack, drafting compelling blurbs and pitches for outlets like Condé Nast and Forbes, and managing e-calendars and detailed spreadsheets tracking publications, awards, and key contacts.
In marketing and content creation, I have held roles such as SEO intern at Options MD and creative director/content producer for my own brand, Ima Swims. These experiences allowed me to build expertise in branding, market research, and audience engagement.
On the production side, I’ve taken on roles in over 20 film projects as a producer, director, and editor. While interning at Alma Har’el’s production company, Jellywolf and Zusa Pictures, I further refined my development skills, conducting in-depth script coverage and evaluating books and screenplays for potential adaptation.
I am passionate about exploring diverse creative mediums and uncovering their potential as tools to connect people to ideas—and to each other.
